It's saturday the 25th and my guild has tried to get a gvg battle going several times today. We've spent 15-20 min at a time "waiting for a worthy opponent", but we have been unable to get a battle. Have other guilds been encountering the same problem?

Yes, my guild was unable period after waiting foooooooorver.... and we usually dont have a huge problem o.O Any idea ne1?

The only problem i have had with GvG is that im terribly laggy in our guild hall for some reason.

Looks to me like this is the result of us being crashed during a GvG match the other day (I'm from Nainara's guild). We were in a match when we all recieved err=7 and dumped out. When we returned there was no result posted for the match (looks like the other guild crashed out as well). We didn't really draw the conclusion until today, I'm working with support on the issue now and I'll post the results when done.
